General Narrow Boat Information


There are eight boats in the fleet ranging from 2 berth up to 12 berth, giving something to suit all needs and budgets. All are named after the University colleges in Oxford and are painted Oxford blue. Each boat is different and each one has a character of its own.


Your comfortable boat at College Cruisers has:

  • Fresh water flush toilets
  • Fully equipped galleys with full-size cookers and fridges
  • Radio/CD players and hair dryer
  • 240 Volt Inverters Fitted
  • Mobile telephone charging points
  • Central heating with radiators
  • Wood burners on selected boats.
  • Free Colour television & DVD (can be removed if you wish)
  • Bed linen provided and all permanent beds made up.
  • Choice of traditional, semi-traditional or cruiser sterns.

The Inventory

On your arrival you will find your canal cruising boat all ready and waiting for you, all fixed beds are made in advance with duvets and good quality linen. Extra pillows and blankets are always available on request, as are cot-sides for those smaller members of the crew, which ensures that nothing will go bump in the night. On board our canal cruising boats you will find everything you need for a fun, relaxing canal cruising holiday. The kitchens are fully equipped so you gourmet chefs out there need not worry, you can still create, even afloat. Handling Your Boat / Rules of the Water, etc.

It is in our interests as well as yours to ensure that you are confident and happy with the handling of your boat before you leave us for your canal cruising holiday, that is why we are members of the APCO Handover Scheme. For those of you new to this fun, we will guide you through the first stages on board, take you through a lock and explain in great detail the Do's and Don'ts of canal cruising. Don't worry about this part of the canal cruising holiday - we will have fun together! You may be interested to know that over 50% of our customers are first-timers. We recommend you read the Boaters Handbook which gives you all the basics, there's a link from each of our boat pages.
