1. Try something different

short-break

New experiences are what makes a holiday memorable. So why not go for a change of environment, and try your hand at some new skills such as how to drive a narrowboat and how to operate a lock?

If you haven’t rented a canal boat before please don’t be put off – it’s very straightforward! (You may be interested to know that over 50% of our customers are first-timers.) As part of the handover  process we will guide you through the first stages on board, take you through a lock and explain in great detail the ‘Do’s and Don’ts’ of canal cruising.

2. Relax

Put all thoughts of work and the daily grind to the back of your mind. Cruise along the South Oxford Canal at just a few miles an hour, chill out as the world drifts by and enjoy the peace and quiet of the English countryside. Moor up and enjoy a leisurely canal-side barbecue with friends or family. And, at night, sleep like a baby in the peaceful surrounds of the English countryside.

3. Make yourself at home

A canal boat makes a great and comfortable base for a holiday or short break. Ours offer a range of home comforts including shower rooms, fully-fitted kitchens, lounge areas, TVs and wood burning stoves. Our boats range in size from 2 berth up to 12 berth, with something to suit all needs and budgets – and we take pride in making sure that your chosen canal boat is spotlessly clean for your holiday.

4. Keep the kids entertained

A canal boat holiday has plenty to occupy young minds – without a video game in sight! Working as a team to make your own way up and down the canal provides a great opportunity to bond with those closest to you. For children, these are the memories that will last a lifetime. Meals are a real family affair, enjoyed around the table either inside the boat or on the towpath whilst moored up for the evening.

5. Bring the dog with you

Dogs love canal holidays. Plenty of fresh air, new smells and room to run. At College Cruisers we encourage you to bring your dog along when you come canal cruising, and there are plenty of places to moor up and go for walks along the way.
